We have accomplished a lot in a short time but we need YOU and our legislators need to see and hear your stories.

If you are interested in providing testimony, or have a story you would like us to share please plan to attend this important meeting.

– Have you been turned away from your doctor because of your vaccine choices?
– Has your child been excluded from school due to vaccine choices?
– Has your child sustained a vaccine injury?
– Has your child been vaccinated without your knowing? If so which vaccines did they receive?

Please message us for meeting location.

Bill Submission Deadline Rapidly Approaching

The last day for Senate and House Bill submission is February 11, 2016. The next two weeks we need your help contacting  legislators. Our group has bipartisan support in both the Rhode Island House and Senate. Last week our group met with several members of the RI General Assembly, several of which have already made commitments to submit or support legislation to accomplish the group’s goals. This is great news but there is still much work to be done.

What YOU can do to help…

Contact your legislators

Remember you elected them, hold them accountable. Explain that you want them to pass legislation to accomplish the following:

1. Restrict the authority of the RI Department of Health (DOH) to set minimum immunization standards for diseases that are non-transmissible in a school environment.
2. Remove the authority of the DOH to mandate HPV vaccination as a condition of school inclusion.
3. Require the DOH director to hold three public hearings when changes to the minimum standards for immunizations are planned.
4. Reinstate the philosophical exemption while also preserving the religious exemption.

Our HPV Parent Information Kit has a lot of information and a sample letter you can email to your legislator.

Continue to spread the word with Parents

The school districts have already started sending home the vaccine requirements for all the 6th graders, for some parents this will be the first time hearing about the HPV vaccine mandate. Direct them to our website where they will find valuable information on our Resources Page Are you interested in booking us for a speaking engagement or event? Please contact us HERE

Gather names and emails of your school nurses, PTO leaders, and school committees

We are creating a contact list and need your help gathering names, emails, and phone numbers. Please submit school information HERE You can also use this link to upload any vaccine mandate handouts being distributed. We will use the handouts as part of our testimony at the bill hearing.

Stay Informed.

Wondering what Bills are being proposed in the Senate and the House? Check out the “Daily Introductions” on the State RI General Assembly website. Keep tabs on the  Senate Committee on Health and Human Services They proposed the Religious Exemption removal and work closely with the RI Department of Health (DOH) This week the committee met with Dr. Alexander Scott of the DOH once we receive the meeting notes we will share with the group.

Two RI Grandmothers HPV Vaccine Story ~ Written by Linda McLaughlin

Scene ~ Lippitt Elementary School playground, Two Grandparents watching their grandchildren play…

Grandparent 1 ~ Did you hear that the kids need the HPV vaccine to enter the 7th grade?

Grandparent 2 ~ Wait, my daughter told me something about a religious exemption and all you have to do was check off the box and they don’t have to get the vaccine to go to school.

The conversation continues, they both agreed this was valuable information to have and would protect their two granddaughters but there were still many people that didn’t have this information. The grandmothers decided information needed to be given out and the mandate  needed to be reversed. They both felt this vaccine was not something that should have an effect on children going to school. It was a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease not an airborne illness. The first meeting was held. It was a small group less that 20 people attended, but word began to spread and by the second meeting the RI Department of Health attended an the group swelled from less than 20 people to well over 60. Great questions were asked of the Department of Health and a lot of great information was shared by people that had been looking for a voice. The following week a Facebook Group was created. Within a month 2500 people had joined the group and over 2000 had signed the petition. We now had a voice and there were a lot of people speaking. It was time to take the next step spreading awareness about the mandate and informed consent. Help us remove this mandate, to provide informed consent and to get the information out to the current 6th grade parents.

From the two grandmothers started it all,
Linda and Joan

Did you know  78% of our legislators REFUSE to go on record about the HPV vaccine mandate.

Do you want to win this fight? Do you want the HPV vaccine mandate removed? NOW is the time, you MUST contact your legislators immediately.
You deserve a response from your elected official! Hold them accountable.

Explain that you want them to pass legislation to accomplish the following:

1. Restrict the authority of the RI Department of Health (DOH) to set minimum immunization standards for diseases that
are non-transmissible in a school environment.
2. Remove the authority of the DOH to mandate HPV vaccination as a condition of school inclusion.
3. Require the DOH director to hold three public hearings when changes to the minimum standards for immunizations
are planned.
4. Reinstate the philosophical exemption while also preserving the religious exemption.

If you missed the show, we had an opportunity to speak with Dan Yorke on his show State of Mind this week! We had a great discussion and appreciate the opportunity to spread the word. Thanks Dan and Lexi for inviting us!

Vaccination and the Sunday Flyer ~ Written by Doc Black

It always amazes me as I talk to and observe people how much time they actually spend concentrating and focusing on “things”. I am sure that most of you can tell me the difference between the newest iPhone, what ever version it is, and a Samsung galaxy or which series of the house wives’ has the most dysfunctional sister-in-law. How many of us can name one ingredient and the effects it may have on the human physiology in just one of the vaccines we routinely and often blindly inject into our children? I bet I can even get a few Tom Brady stats from some of you, but when was the last time you looked at the statistics provided to you by the vaccine manufacturers or actually had an real “discussion” with your family’s doctor about these serious issues?

Unfortunately most of us never consider these things until we run into a problem…BUT…Unlike having the ability to change cell phone carriers or switching to a new series to binge watch; many of our “choices” effect the health of our children and maybe even our children’s children…these choices will definitely outlast this version of iPhone or this season of reality TV. Put down the flyer and study what actually makes a difference.

Until next time keep thinking and seeking YOUR truths….

~ Doc Black

This week we started receiving responses from legislators and some of you have also been meeting with them. Please continue to help us by calling, emailing, and meeting with your senator and representative and tell them that we propose legislation to accomplish the following:

1. Restrict the authority of the DOH to set minimum immunization standards for diseases which are non-transmissible in a school environment.
2. Remove the authority of the DOH to mandate HPV vaccination as a condition of school inclusion.
3. Require the DOH director to hold three public hearings when changes to the minimum standards for immunizations are planned.
4. Reinstate the philosophical exemption while also preserving the religious exemption to vaccinations.

Our group membership has swelled to over 2500 concerned citizens and, to date, more than 2900 supporters have signed an online petition to eliminate mandatory HPV vaccinations in R.I. We could not have accomplished this much without your support!

Remember to share the ‘HPV Parent Information Packet’ with parents you may know. Our resources page has lots of valuable information that all of you should read and share. Lastly don’t forget to sign the petition to remove the HPV mandate.

A quick reminder: The RI Alliance for Vaccine Choice is not seeking monetary donations at this time. If you are asked to donate money to aid in the removal of the HPV vaccine mandate, please be informed that it is not endorsed nor recommended by us. If you are contacted by someone on behalf of our organization, please inform us immediately.

Thank you again for your support!

Our top priority is the removal of the HPV vaccine mandate and we are working closely with the Alliance to Remove HPV Vaccine Mandate. Our mission is clear; we wish to support, educate, and work towards securing the freedom of choice for our families.  We ask that you continue to share our message via our social media outlets, get involved, and contact your local legislators.
