Dear Rhode Island Families: This hasn’t been a cake walk.
Last year, we came together to testify at the State House to protect and preserve our rights to Informed Medical Consent and Vaccine Choice and that the HPV vaccine be removed. The bills which would have achieved these goals never came out of committee. It was disappointing.
Our group has continued to work throughout the year to inform and raise awareness. The release of the documentary “Vaxxed from Coverup to Catastrophe” about the CDC whistleblower and his documentation of scientific fraud on the CDC 2004 MMR study, became a catalyst which brought new faces and voices who shared their concerns about the safety of our increasing vaccine schedule. We attended a showing of Vaxxed at Brown University Medical School and members of our group attended the Vaccine Advisory Committee meeting at the Rhode Island Department of Health this past December.
As we predicted last year, more vaccines were added to the RI schedule after the HPV vaccine mandate. This year, the Rhode Island Department of Health added two doses of the Meningitis B vaccine for 16 to 18 year olds. The brand names are Bexsero and Trumenda. This will affect all college students attending in Rhode Island.
There were two senate bills introduced in this legislative session and we hope you take the time to read and support them. Senate Bill S0047 was introduced by Senator Raptakis & Senator Elaine Morgan. Senate Bill S0489 was introduced by Senator Raptakis & Senator Elaine Morgan Senator Metts, Senator Kettle, and Senator Paolino. Please be sure to thank them for their support.
We also ask that you send a personal email to each member of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Be sure to write the bill(s) # in the subject line and whether you are in favor or opposed. In your email briefly tell your story: What brought you to the vaccine safety/informed consent issue in the first place. Do you have a child with a vaccine injury? Was your child given a vaccine without your knowledge or consent? Were you bullied or threatened by a health care provider to vaccinate against your better judgement? Did your doctor fail to inform you of all the risks of each vaccine? Did your doctor fail to address your concerns? Are you pregnant and worried that vaccination during pregnancy can cause harm to your developing baby? Were you not informed of your option to submit a religious exemption? Why is vaccine choice and safety important to you?
